Hopalong became part of Marin Humane in 2021, extending our lifesaving work across Marin and the East Bay. Through volunteers, foster homes, and strong community partnerships, the program helps more animals find loving homes every day.

It's hot out there! 🔥Pets are more susceptible to heat-related illness when temperatures rise. Here's how to keep pets safe!* Keep fresh, clean water available at all times.* Provide shade and cool areas for pets to relax.* Limit walks and other activity during the hottest part of the day.* Watch for signs of heat stress, including heavy panting, drooling, weakness, confusion, vomiting, or collapse.* NEVER leave animals in parked cars, even with the windows down.* Check pavement before walks to avoid burned paws.If you spot an animal in distress in this heat, call our Animal Services Officers at 415.883.4621 or call 911 to get help right away.

Maltese fans, rejoice! We have a certified cutie here! This is Ember, a 1-year-old Maltese mix looking for a gentle, patient adopter. He's shy but extemely sweet, so give him time to warm up and you'll be rewarded with the cutest, most affectionate sidekick. He spent a little time in foster and his foster mom reported that he was a great bedtime snuggler! @marinsubaru continues to amaze us with their support! Last week they delivered this bounty of pet food for our Pet Safety Net pet food pantry. They've donted over 2,500 pounds of food to the program so far! Naturally, we thanked them with a visit from Titus, the ultimate cuddlebug (and yes, he's still available for adoption!).Our Pet Safety Net program supports pet parents when they're financially stretched and struggling to afford pet food or veterinary care. Folks can stop by the pet food pantry, apply for financial assistance with vet bills, or visit one of our free community clinics. The program is life-changing for many families and keeps pets in homes where they belong!@marinsubaru, @subaru_usa, and @aspca are pitching in to support our next free community clinic on Saturday, October 10! Low-income Marin residents can bring their dogs and cats to Marin Health and Human Services at 3250 Kerner Blvd., San Rafael, from 11:00am- 12:30pm, to receive vaccines, microchips, pet food, and other supplies. We need a foster home for Porter!Porter's a 7-year-old, male Lab mix who's feeling very stressed here in the shelter. He would love to decompress in someone’s home while he waits for his forever family! He just needs some space and patience. ❤Porter’s lived with other dogs before, so while he hasn’t been too interested in his fellow canines here at the shelter, we know he can successfully share his space with them. We don’t know his history with cats.Porter’s favorite thing in the whole world is playing fetch. Grab a tennis ball, a frisbee, or even a stuffed toy – Porter’s ready. He needs a strong arm behind his leash (good thing you exercised your muscles tossing a ball!), but he’s also cooperative and sweet.We'd love to get this boy into a dog-savvy home where he can relax enough to show us his full personality.
