Stewie was brought to Marin Humane with his four tiny siblings and mom after they were found stray in Novato. Our clinic evaluated the feline family and treated little Stewie for diarrhea, and they were all sent to the home of one of our dedicated foster volunteers.
While in foster, Stewie and his family were socialized and given lots of love and affection. After three weeks, he, his mom, and his littermates were ready for spay/neuter surgery, and then were made available for adoption.
It just so happened that a local family had been in touch with our adoption staff right when Stewie was getting ready to find a new home. The family had been searching for a cat for their son to cuddle with, and our staff set up an appointment for them to meet little Stewie. Of course, they fell in love and took Stewie, who now goes by Mercury, home with them.
The adopter shared this note with our staff after Mercury had settled in at home: “I truly cannot thank you enough for helping to bring little, now Mercury into our lives. My son…fell in love him right away, just as you predicted. He is such a confident, curious and cuddly kitten. He fits right into our home as if he’s always been there.”
Of course, this happy ending could not have happened without the support of the many donors who make gifts to Marin Humane each year. Thank you for these lives made happy!
