Take a moment to fill out a Pets & People Profile before you arrive.

This profile will help us make the perfect match for you and your family. Simply fill out the profile online, or download a PDF version to print and return in person when you come to meet your new friend!

We’re here to answer all your questions — after all, we’ve spent time getting to know each critter with whiskers, wagging tails, and floppy ears. And we’re professional matchmakers.

And as we all know, true love can take a little time so there’s no need to rush. You may even want to come back for a second visit to see if it’s right. And since adopting an animal is a family affair, bring the whole gang! We can’t wait to be a part of your happily ever after.

If you’re interested in adopting a friend for your resident rabbit, guinea pig, or rat, we offer pet bonding advice.

The entire adoption process can take some time but it’s well worth it! After all, you can’t rush true love.

What the adoption fee includes

When you adopt an animal from Marin Humane, you’re not only giving a homeless critter a forever home, but your adoption fee helps us find even more homes for animals in need.

Between microchips, vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, and feeding, care for a healthy animal in our shelter costs $500 on average. As an open door shelter, we treat all animals, including a number of them with medical issues, and that can quickly double — and in some cases more than triple — that amount.
