Crystal had a rough start to life. A good Samaritan found her after her mother was hit by a car, and our clinic soon discovered she had Panleukopenia, a potentially fatal viral disease. We jumped into action, treating her with medicine, fluids and other labor-intensive supportive care.

Crystal’s medical battles weren’t over. She also had a ringworm infection which required isolation while she was treated medically. As if this weren’t enough, Crystal developed an allergic reaction to the ringworm medication, which meant a significant amount of time spent recovering and receiving treatment.

After six months of intensive medical and behavioral care, Crystal was finally ready to find her new home this February. Shy at first, she welcomed games with cat toys and loved climbing in laps for pets. Thanks to the commitment and patience of our staff and volunteers, Crystal found her new home quickly and is now happy with her family.

Crystal’s story is a great example of how donor support for Marin Humane’s Critical Care Fund saves lives. Without the generosity of our community, we would not have the resources to treat highly contagious infections like Panleukopenia and ringworm. Please make your gift to fund Crystal’s medical care and animals like her today.
