Figaro & Penelope

We adopted our sibling cats, Figaro and Penelope (formerly Figiro and Minnie Mouse) from Marin Humane in June 2019. We had lost our beloved senior kitty to lymphoma earlier in the year, and are hearts were heavy and our home felt empty without a kitty presence. My daughter and I were at the Red Hill Shopping Center in San Anselmo one afternoon and spotted Penelope in the window of Kitty Corner. We decided to go in and look, and that was that: we were immediately smitten by this coal black kitten and her mischievous, tuxedo kitten [...]

During the pandemic, we decided to foster two kittens from Marin Humane. Well, like so many others do with their foster pets, we ended up falling in love with them and making the arrangement permanent by adopting them. We were thrilled to celebrate Cleo & Leo’s 1st birthday recently! They got to enjoy tuna, a Mylar balloon with a long ribbon to play with, and a new cat toy with irresistible feathers. Deysi is perfect!

By |2021-05-21T15:32:02-07:00May 21, 2021|Lives Made Happy, Other|

The moment I saw her photo I knew she was the one. Three years old - not too young and not too old. Perfect mellow dog. I couldn’t have wished for more. Thank you Marin Humane Society. Deysi is a blessing. Thank you, Rosslyn! We love hearing stories like this. It sounds like Deysi has found her perfect home.

Students are still eager to be involved!

How wonderful is this? Despite all the challenges surrounding the pandemic, students still want to help the animals. Andrew, leader of the Animal Welfare Club at Marin Academy in San Rafael, emailed us to ask if his club could donate some DIY toys/enrichment items during COVID-19. Of course we said yes! Thanks, guys!

Billie – my shadow and my heart all wrapped into one

By |2021-03-03T14:41:16-08:00March 3, 2021|Blog, Lives Made Happy, Other|

I meant to make a submission years ago, but I'd love to tell  Billie’s story now as we have just said goodbye to our baby girl after her fight with lymphoma. I was on the hunt for "my first" dog of my own, aka not the family dog, at age 19. My dad and I came to look at a Pomeranian mix (which we chuckle at now knowing how much of big dog people we are). But at the time I felt it was right since I had no clue if I could have a big [...]
