Chewy came to Marin Humane from a shelter in the Central Valley, where she was found as a stray. Our veterinary team noticed that she had limited mobility in her hips and back legs, and x-rays revealed that both her hips were dislocated. Surgery was needed to ensure that her condition did not become painful as she aged.
A local veterinarian who specializes in this type of surgery performed a Femoral Head Ostectomy, which removed the source of pain from Chewy’s hips and allowed her to use her back legs more normally. Chewy then spent months in a loving foster home, where she recuperated beautifully.
Chewy found her forever home with a former volunteer who fell in love with Chewy right away. She shares her home with Sebastian, an orange cat who loves to play, and is always by her mom’s side (or in her lap). Her mom wrote to us recently, “I remain very appreciative of all the time and money it took to get Chewy in fighting shape for adoption. Three months and three operations was a real commitment, and I have been reaping the benefits.”
We were able to help Chewy get healthy and find her loving home because of the support of our generous donors. Thank you for giving pets like Chewy happy, healthy lives!
