King arrived at Marin Humane when his former owners had a change in living circumstances and could no longer take care of him. He was very attached to his family at the time, and the poor guy was so sad when he had to say “goodbye”. He was cared for in the home of a loving volunteer through our Hopalong Foster Program, where he settled in and lived happily for several months. Unfortunately, his foster family could not continue to care for him, so he was sent to Happy Hound Doggie Daycare in Oakland, where he got to play in groups with other dogs and enjoyed meeting everyone. Happy Hound staff took pride caring for sweet King, taking him to training classes and on hiking adventures.
Days, weeks, and months went by, and King continued to wait patiently for his forever home. His anxiety was a sticking point for many potential adopters, but our staff continued working hard to find the right family for him, featuring him on social media and reaching out through our networks to spread the word about this sweet guy.
At last, after a year and a half in our care, King found his forever home – which includes a sibling named Posie! The two love playing in their yard and taking long naps together.
Some animals require more time to find their families than others, and King is a great example of a pet who simply needed some extra time. Thanks to our donors, we can give the animals in our care all of the time they need.
