Lanvin and Celine were too young for our adoption program when they first came to Marin Humane, so they were sent to the home of a Hopalong Foster Program volunteer. There, they received food, water, and lots of love while they alternated between playing and cuddling with each other.
One day, our experienced foster volunteer noticed that Lanvin was very lethargic. After observing the poor kitten for a bit longer, the volunteer took Lanvin to an emergency veterinary clinic where she received fluids and a thorough examination. Eventually, both kittens tested positive for giardia, a parasite that causes intestinal infections. Thankfully, both recovered swiftly after receiving medical treatment.
Once the kittens were healthy and old enough, they were spayed and neutered at Marin Humane’s veterinary clinic, and were adopted quickly by a loving family. Unfortunately, the family had to return the kittens to Marin Humane weeks later after learning that their landlord limited their household to one pet.
Luckily for these two sweet kittens, their return stay was not prolonged. A couple from Moraga met them at an adoption outpost at Woodlands Pet Food and Treats in Novato and quickly fell in love. Now named Pepper and Poppy, they provide endless joy to their new family who reports that the kittens “have come to mean so much to us”. Pepper and Poppy even got to “supervise” the construction of their very own catio, which allows them to enjoy the outdoors from a safe enclosure.
Donations to Marin Humane enable us to provide critical medical care – in addition to care for basic needs – to animals like Pepper and Poppy, each and every day. Thank you to our supporters – your contributions literally save lives!
