Greetings Volunteers,
This post gives us another chance to say, Happy Volunteer Appreciation Week! This special week is an opportunity to recognize the impact of volunteer service and the power of volunteers to tackle some of the greatest challenges facing communities. Volunteers are the lifeblood of many nonprofit organizations, including Marin Humane. Over 800 dedicated people donate their time, energy, creativity and skills to ensure Marin Humane can achieve its mission on behalf of animals and the people who love them! Thank you for transforming lives

Volunteer High Five to Jeff Bacciocco! “Our new volunteer, Jeff Bacciocco, is so deserving of a Volunteer High Five for all his behind-the-scenes efforts in the maintenance department. Jeff started volunteering with our maintenance team of Dave & Russ a few months ago, buy holy cow!, he has made a huge impact! Rain or shine, Jeff comes to the shelter at least twice a week to tackle any task Dave and Russ need help with, including: refilling dog poop bags, collecting trash, changing light bulbs, hanging decorative flags, and most recently, painting Hopalong’s new offices in Oakland. In addition, Jeff has been a huge help at the agility field for course building and he even stuck around to help one of our agility instructors fill 12 tunnel bags with sand last Tuesday. Jeff is a delight and tackles all tasks with a smile on his face. He’s a perfect fit with Dave and Russ, sharing similar senses of humor and favorite movie lines! Thank you, Jeff, for joining our maintenance team, helping our agility staff, and for making a huge difference in a short period of time! We’re so glad you’ve joined the Marin Humane volunteer corps!” ~ The maintenance team
Tails of Marin: Marin is absolutely bursting with new life right now: flowers blooming, birds singing, bees and butterflies appearing, and, of course, wildlife babies being born. During spring, Marin plays host to a variety of baby wildlife — from fawns to ducklings to baby squirrels to opossum babies riding in their mom’s pouch. This means the phone lines at Marin Humane and WildCare stay busy with calls from worried residents. It’s a good time to be reminded about when to help, when to ask experts for help, and when to just let nature take its course. Read this week’s Tails of Marin, “Help keep baby wildlife safe and sound.”
Wine, wine, wine! Woofstock is just a few short weeks away and one of the big fundraisers at the event is the Dog Collar Wine Toss Game. To facilitate this game, we’re looking for donations of all varietals of wine, anything priced $5 and over (no Two Buck Chuck, please), keeping in mind that guests are paying $10 to participate. Bottles can be brought to the Marketing & Communications or Development offices in the Whittell building. Thank you in advance for your donations!
With appreciation!
Candace
