Hello Volunteers,
Surprise Flash Sale! Calling all procrastinators! If you haven’t grabbed your Woofstock tickets yet, this is your last chance to buy them online — and we’re celebrating with a special flash sale. Use the code FLASH10 to save $10 on adult tickets, only valid today! We can’t wait to welcome you on Sunday for a groovy day of music by Pop Fiction. All proceeds benefit the shelter animals!
Shelter update: We currently have 285 animals in our collective care. 103 are at our Novato campus, including 29 dogs, 1 puppy, 49 cats, 5 kittens, 5 rabbits, 3 guinea pigs, 7 reptiles, 2 bird2, and 2 fowl. 23 animals are in our Oakland office; 8 are at Kitty Corner and the Woodlands stores; and 151 are in foster homes.
Adoption update: It’s Wednesday and you know what that means! It’s adoption slideshow time! Congratulations to all the animals pictured here (plus even more not pictured) on finding their forever homes last week! 🙌 And here’s the Adoption Report, too!
Hopalong happenings: Hopalong wants to give a shout out to Anthony, one of our pet chauffeurs! Anthony is one of our substitute drivers to fill in when regulars are out of town. We really appreciate that he almost always says yes, even to last minute driving requests. He has helped us drop animals off for our adoption events, transport them to surgery, and last week helped us move large cat condos to a new location – the man can do it all. To top it off, a few weeks ago, Anthony brought a special guest along for the drive: his new baby, Arlo! When Anthony took a break to sit and feed Arlo in the front entry area of Marin Humane, word spread quickly about the adorable duo. Hope you enjoy this cute photo of the two. Thank you, Anthony, and we hope Arlo enjoyed the ride-along!
Wine donations still needed: Woofstock is just a few days away and we still need more wine donations for the Dog Collar Wine Toss game. To facilitate this event, our Special Events Manager Molly Foley is seeking donations of all varietals of wine, anything priced $5 and over, keeping in mind that guests are paying $10 to participate. Bottles can be brought to her desk in the MarCom Office or the Development Office, both in the Whittell building. Thank you in advance for your donations!
Hoppy ending! “Hi! I’m so happy to share that Estrella is doing wonderfully. She and our 11-year-old bunny, Oakley, have completely bonded. It’s been really special to watch and they have become a great pair. We feel so lucky and blessed that we found her through Marin Humane so easily. Our family is grateful and truly appreciative for all the work that you do. Thank you again for bringing her into our lives!” ~ Caren
Tails of Marin: This week’s Tails of Marin starts, “What a gorgeous spring we’re having. I think Marin looks even more verdant than it usually is this time of year. In addition to all the trees becoming lush, wildflowers blooming, baby wildlife being born and more humans out on the trails, another important part of the season is also appearing more often — the northern Pacific rattlesnake. They’re looking to gather food, bask in the sunlight, and prepare for the next hibernation. Before you cancel your upcoming hike after reading that last part, take a breath. With a little knowledge, you and Marin’s only venomous snake can coexist peacefully.” Life in Marin is all about coexistence, so learn “How to coexist safely with rattlesnakes.”
Community events: Do you enjoy chatting with folks about Marin Humane? Well, we’re frequently asked to participate in community events as well as emergency preparedness events throughout the year, though the majority seem to be concentrated in the spring and summer. If you’re not already on the list and you’re interested in representing Marin Humane at tabling events throughout Marin and the Bay Area, please let me know. Events are super fun and people love to stop at our table and tell you their dog/cat/rabbit stories :). Thank you!
Petaluma shelter update: As mentioned in previous posts, Marin Humane continues to temporarily provide animal services for the city of Petaluma until a new service provider is secured. This includes managing the shelter at 840 Hopper Street, Petaluma. If you’d like to get the latest updates, scroll to the bottom of this page.
Have a great week and I hope to see many of you on Sunday at Woofstock!
Candace
