Greetings volunteers!

What a great week of recognition for animals! Monday was International Cat Day, and today is National Spoil Your Dog Day! Hope you spoil and enjoy all your pets every day :). And if you’re looking for a dog to *spoil* (add) to your family (or your friends, ha!), here are some cuties up for adoption!

Shelter update: We currently have 201 animals in our care: 81 animals in foster and 120 animals in the shelter/Kitty Corner. Our residents include: 23 dogs, 4 puppies, 35 cats, 22 kittens, 12 rabbits, 4 guinea pigs, 2 rodents, 6 reptiles, 5 birds, and 7 fowl.

Adoptions update: So many happy matches! Take a look at all the animals who were adopted recently in our slideshow — it’s my favorite thing to share on Wednesdays. Here, too is the Adoption Report in case you want to put some names to the faces you see in the adoption video.

Happy ending! “Hi! I wanted to give an update on Lucas, the black kitten we adopted on 7/5/22. We renamed him Calrissian. He is doing so well! Thank you so much! He has 3 new best friends – our 2 dogs & another kitten at home. He adjusted so quickly and has visited his vet. He got his last shot (rabies) & he seems so happy. We are so obsessed with him. We definitely lucked out on a great addition to the family. He is super mellow and sweet. Thank you again for all that the organization and volunteers do! You guys are life savers! I will continue to support Marin Humane for as long as I can. I am always spreading the word on Instagram about how I love your organization.”

Community clinic: Thank you to everyone who supported our free Community Clinic in Pt. Reyes Station last weekend! We provided veterinary exams, basic vaccinations (rabies, DA2PP, FVRCP), microchips, flea meds, dog licenses, pet food, and gear to almost 50 pets. A special shout-out to Dr. Ortiz, Dr. Bennett, and their team from San Marin Animal Hospital for taking time out of their busy schedules to help us support families in need! Thank you to Petco Love for donating crucial vaccines! And last but not least, thank you to everyone who helps us spread the word about our free clinics, helping us reach pet guardians who need our support.

Tails of Marin: Remember “Tiger King,” the popular show which was amusing to some and horrifying to others? While the show’s producers were clearly more interested in the salacious aspects of the personal lives of those profiled, a surprising (and welcome) result has been renewed discussion about the plight of big cats in our country. So much so that a federal bill, which failed several times to be passed by Congress, is now facing the real possibility of becoming law. In this week’s Tails of Marin, get more info on why “Big cats deserve our protection.” An excellent read. BTW, if you can’t access the Marin IJ, here’s the article, Big Cats Deserve Our Protection.

Marin Humane is the best! Thank you so much to our supporters for voting for Marin Humane for Best Adoption Center, Best Dog Obedience School, and Best Charity Event – Woofstock in Pacific Sun‘s Best of Marin 2022! We’re honored to be part of this amazing community!
