Greetings Volunteers,

Many, many thanks to all the volunteers who made a donation on (or after) Giving Tuesday! Every dollar counts towards helping the shelter animals! Just as importantly, every time you volunteer with the animals, smile at our guests and clients, bring in newspapers, paper bags, etc., and share our social media posts, YOU make a difference! Thank you from all of the staff!

Shelter update: We currently have 287 animals in our collective care. 223 are at Marin Humane: 99 animals in foster and 118 animals in the shelter/Kitty Corner, including: 21 dogs, 6 puppies, 62 cats, 16 kittens, 9 rabbits, 6 guinea pigs, 1 reptile, and 3 fowl. 64 animals are with Hopalong: 8 animals are in the Oakland office and 56 cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies are in foster or offsite adoption sites!

Adoptions update: Welcome to the first Wednesday adoption update of December! With the winter holidays fast approaching, it’s so heartwarming to see all these furry friends in forever homes! Congratulations and thank you to last week’s adopters! Sit back, relax, and enjoy this extra-long adoption slideshow of cozy couples! For those who seek more details on who went home, here’s the Adoption Report.

Hopalong happenings: Are you active on Nextdoor? And would you be willing to occasionally post on behalf of Marin Humane’s Hopalong Foster Program? If so, please let us know! We are seeking help from our amazing network to reach communities across the Bay Area on Nextdoor. We’ll periodically ask you to share posts to help support our foster and volunteer recruitment, disaster relief efforts, events, etc. We’re especially hoping to find folks who live in Berkeley, Oakland, and San Rafael. Please let Hopalong’s Volunteer Engagement Coordinator Sam (smcnaughton@marinhumane.org) know if you’re interested in helping!

Tails of Marin: “Winter is fast approaching, which means it’s time to bring out the heavy coats, rain jackets, boots, and warm blankets. But what about our pets? Most people, especially in temperate California, assume that our pets don’t need anything extra in the wintertime, that their fur and instincts are enough to protect them. But that’s often not the case.” Get more tips and info in this week’s Tails of Marin article, “How to keep your pets cozy this winter.”
