Shelter update: We currently have 231 animals in our collective care. 117 are at our Novato campus, including 23 dogs, 4 puppies, 61 cats, 1 kitten, 7 rabbits, 9 guinea pigs, 4 rodents, and 2 reptiles. Six animals are in our Oakland office; 14 are at Kitty Corner and the Woodlands stores; and 94 are in foster homes.

Hopalong happenings! Hopalong wants to give a shout out to Krystyna for being an all-around amazing volunteer! Krystyna frequently helps out as a Dog Handler at our mobile adoption events. She brings lots of enthusiasm and compassion to everyone she talks with, whether it be members of the public or other volunteers. She often drives the Hopalong van to and from events, bringing the dogs and necessary supplies from Hopalong. This can make for a long volunteer day, but she always does it with a big smile. Krystyna’s cheerfulness is contagious: she sends follow-up emails to the other event volunteers, encouraging the team about a job well done and making everyone feel appreciated. We are so grateful for her support! Help us gather raffle items for Woofstock! Woofstock is almost here. Our beloved community event takes place Sunday, May 3, and we’re looking for volunteers who can help us secure raffle donations to make the day a big success. Raffle prizes are a key fundraiser for Woofstock, and volunteer outreach is one of the most effective ways to gather great items. You don’t need prior fundraising experience—just a willingness to ask and make connections. We’ll provide: *A starter list of businesses to contact, *Sample outreach language, *Guidance on the types of raffle items that are most popular. Past favorites include gift certificates, tickets, products, classes, services, and unique experiences. If you have relationships with local businesses, employers, or community partners—or simply enjoy reaching out—this is a wonderful way to support the animals. Mountain lion presentation: Marin Humane and the Felidae Conservation Fund will be hosting a virtual presentation on “Wild Cats in California’s Urban Areas” on Wednesday, February 25th from 6-7pm. With mountain lions in the news lately, the timing is just right to join this Zoom meeting where Felidae will cover the natural history, ecology, the state of pumas in CA, and share findings from their research, and just as importantly, how to prevent human-wildlife conflict.
