Greetings volunteers!

We’ve got loads to share, so let’s get to it!

Shelter update: We currently have 219 animals in our care: 89 animals in foster and 130 animals in the shelter/Kitty Corner. Our residents include: 19 dogs, 1 puppy, 34 cats, 36 kittens, 15 rabbits, 16 guinea pigs, 5 reptiles, 1 bird, and 3 fowl.

Adoptions update: Congrats to all of last week’s adopters! We hope many more animals find their homes in the next few weeks while adoption fees are waived for all adult animals (five months and older) for the month of July! Hope you enjoy the adoption slideshow and the Adoption Report.

Volunteers needed for two fun events! On Saturday, August 27th, Marin Humane will host the Bay Area Pignic! Yes, you read that right, a picnic for guinea pigs and their smitten guardians! The 11th annual Pignic is a fun-filled gathering that includes a cavy costume contest, vegetable eating contest, raffle, bake sale, health checks, grooming …and more! We could use the help of 2-4 volunteers at our Pignic table from 10am-2pm. The second event where we could use your help is the Marin Dog Fest Reunion on Sunday, September 17th in Larkspur’s Piper Park. Marin Humane will have an information table and we’d love your help (two volunteers per shift, 4 volunteers total) to chat with the public about Marin Humane. If you’re interested in learning more about either special event, please email me at calexander@marinhumane.org. Thanks so much!

Gallery reception on Saturday night: Looking for the cutest Saturday night plans ever? Stop by the gallery reception of Pet Parade, an amazing new show at Artist Within – A Cedars Gallery, this Saturday evening, July 16th, 6-8pm. Enjoy gorgeous and heartwarming portraits of Marin Humane pets – both staff pets and alumni – and enjoy San Anselmo’s Live on the Avenue, complete with wine and music. The Artist Within gallery is part of Cedars Life, which supports individuals with developmental disabilities in leading creative, productive, and joyous lives. Click here to learn more about Pet Parade, shop the Pet Parade online store, and check out other upcoming events!

Marin Humane Gala! Marin Humane’s annual Gala is our largest fundraiser of the year and we’re excited to announce that Gala 2022 will be on Saturday, September 10th! We expect record crowds as we connect our most dedicated animal lovers with the animals they are helping that night, and even allow them to bring their well-dressed pups along for a great night! We could use your help in making this year’s Gala the best ever. Please consider donating (or soliciting from friends and family) an item for our silent or live auction. The auction provides a significant portion of our revenue at the Gala. Popular donations received in the past include tickets, gift certificates/cards, wine packages, products, services, travel, and one-of-a-kind experiences. If you’ve got a question, please contact event manager Molly Foley at mfoley@marinhumane.org. And here’s the Gala Auction Donation Form for your use.

Tails of Marin: This week’s Tails of Marin seems particularly timely as more and more people are heading out on vacation: “Tips for traveling with your pet.” Lily, the senior toy poodle in the photo to the left, is sitting in her stroller and staring longingly at Carina’s avocado toast. If you cannot access the Marin IJ link, here’s the article, Tips For Traveling With Your Pet.

B&Tea Blog: Choosing the right name for your pooch, kitty, bunny, bird, or snake is very important. Their image is at stake. Check out this fun piece by veteran volunteer Neil Lurssen, “Choosing a name is a big deal.”

Have a wonderful week!
