Another ASO to the rescue! Ducklings in a storm drain? Animal Services Officer Cimmiyotti to the rescue! Mama Duck was so worried for her babies, but thankfully they were all reunited and headed off to safety. Thank you, Officer Cimmiyotti, for ensuring the ducklings got back to their mother! If you ever spot wildlife in distress, give us a call! Our Animal Services Officers are available 24/7 at 415-883-4621. check out this video of the rescue of the sweet duckling!

Volunteer High Five to Ron Rigler! Ron joined the Dog Pet Pal volunteer team under a year ago, but he has made a huge difference in the lives of our shelter dogs! Ron came to us with LOTS of dog behavior experience from working at other shelters. He spends extra time working with our most challenging dogs to help make them more adoptable. Ron also takes the most adorable and entertaining videos of his outings with the shelter dogs. He reveals the loving, goofy, and joyful side of some of our canine residents, putting their best paw forward! Ron then turns his videos into TikTok videos! We can share these TikTok videos on the Marin Humane social media platforms to find a foster home, or even better, a forever home for the shelter doggo’s! Thank you, Ron, for going the extra mile to showcase our great dogs and help get them adopted!!” ~ Jane Aten, Shelter Canine Behavior Coordinator

Tails of Marin: During the first six months of 2024, Marin Humane saw a 400% increase in the number of puppies coming through our doors. Some are strays found in the community, while others are surrendered by their owners. Almost all are large breed dogs, including shepherd mixes, pit bull mixes, Siberian husky mixes and malinois mixes. In this week’s Tails of Marin article, we explore some of the reasons why we’re seeing such an increase in pups: When too many puppies are a bad thing.

San Quentin Pen Pal update: It’s another awesome San Quentin update! Each week, we share stories from our Pen Pals program at San Quentin Rehabilitation Center, which matches specially-selected inmates who work in the center’s firehouse with shelter dogs in need of a little extra TLC. ❤ Today we’d like you to meet Skippy, who’s been hanging out at San Quentin for the better part of two months! The shelter was pretty stressful for this little dude when he arrived as a stray. Plus, he has a LOT of energy! Like, chase a ball and do parkour off the wall kinda energy. That’s because Skippy is a total terrier (mixed with Chihuahua, we think?): energetic and spunky, bouncy and friendly, curious and smart. His skipping gait, a unique quirk that earned him his name, adds to his charm. He’s certainly won over his handler in the Pen Pals program! Skippy is 4 years old and ready to start fresh start. If you’d like to meet him, give us a call at 415-506-6225! Learn more about our amazing Pen Pals program here.

Thank you, thank you! Hope you have a terrific week!
