Greetings Volunteers!

Happy first day of summer!

It was a blast to see so many of you at Saturday’s Volunteer Party! It appeared that everyone enjoyed Volunteer Bingo, the fabulous mimosas and brunch, fun raffle … and most especially, an opportunity to gather and toast each other for the difference you make in the lives of the shelter animals and people in our community. We previewed this video of our awesome volunteers; we hope you’ll take a few minutes to view it! There are also more party photos below :).

Shelter update: We currently have 333 animals in our collective care. 191 are at Marin Humane: 66 animals in foster and 125 animals in the shelter/Kitty Corner, including: 18 dogs, 3 puppies, 45 cats, 24 kittens, 17 rabbits, 7 guinea pigs, 3 rodents, 4 reptiles, and 4 birds. 142 animals are with Hopalong: 24 animals in the Oakland office and 118 cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies are in foster or offsite adoption sites!

Adoptions update: Here’s a look at last week’s adoptions to start the week off right. It’s bound to make you smile! Congratulations to all the adopters! And for the full scoop on who found their new homes, here’s the Adoption Report.

Hopalong happenings! We’re so lucky to have a wonderful network of foster homes where our animals can rest and wait for their forever homes. While we’re always grateful for all the work done by the humans in the foster families, we also deeply appreciate the pets who are able and willing to share their space with a foster. After all, sometimes a friendly face is all that’s needed to help you feel at home! Pets already in the home can be a tremendous source of both comfort and fun for a foster animal getting their bearings. As you can see, this little one has lots to look up to already! Ready to give fostering a try? If so, let us know!

Community outreach: Last week, Marin Humane joined forces with Downtown Streets Team and Community Action Marin to provide crucial veterinary care, vaccines, food, and supplies to the pets living with their guardians on Binford Road in Novato. We were honored to have the opportunity to make a difference for these folks and their beloved animals! We’re hosting our next drop-in Community Clinic for pet parents in need on Saturday, July 22 at Pell Plaza in Novato. Bring your canine companion or feline friend to our mobile clinic at 500 Redwood Blvd., from 11:00am – 1:00pm.

Tails of Marin: If you missed the news about it last week, there was a black bear spotted on a San Rafael resident’s security cameras in the middle of the night. The bear, believed to have been a juvenile male, was seen on camera sauntering around the home and nosing his way through some garbage and debris on the side of the house. You’re sure to enjoy this week’s Tails of Marin column, “After A Bear Sighting In Marin, It’s Important To Be Bear Aware, But Don’t Panic.”

Milestone post: Stay tuned for an additional blog post about volunteers celebrating their milestone anniversaries this year. We’ll also feature the awards for Humane Youth and Humane Educator of the Year!

Have a great week! Take a peek at these pics from the Volunteer Party!
