Shelter update: We currently have 247 animals in our collective care. 173 are at Marin Humane: 81 animals in foster and 92 animals in the shelter/Kitty Corner, including: 15 dogs, 6 puppies, 47 cats, 2 kittens, 2 rabbits, 6 guinea pigs, 2 rodents, 7 reptiles, and 5 birds. 74 animals are with Hopalong: 1 animal is in the Oakland office and 73 cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies are in foster or offsite adoption sites!

Adoptions update: Well, it’s Wednesday, again! Time to check out last week’s sweet adoptions! And then go check out the animals still waiting for adoption. Can’t adopt right now? Consider fostering! And lastly, don’t forget to check out this Adoption Report to see all the happy families!

Hopalong happenings! After almost nine months in the Hopalong Foster Program, we’re thrilled to share that Astro has been adopted! As you can see, he’s very happy in his new home! This handsome boy was in desperate need of some TLC when he was transferred into our program in the fall.  Astro’s skin was in horrible condition, but it quickly cleared up with top-notch care from his vet team and foster family. He’s been thriving in his foster home ever since, waiting patiently for his forever family to come along.  We celebrate each and every adoption, but it’s extra special when the animal who’s been in our care longest finally gets their turn!  Congratulations, Astro and family!

Happy ending! A very happy ending occurred this weekend. You may have heard about our sweet (and obese) lil MinPin, Jammy, who was up for adoption and received a lot of press! Well, Jammy is now off on his next adventure! His new mom saw his article in The Dodo and immediately felt a connection with him. She assumed that with all the media coverage, someone must have snapped him up already, but when she checked our website a few days later, she discovered that he was still available! She quickly called in and arranged to drive all the way from Oregon to adopt her new best friend. Before she made the drive, she contacted her vet to make sure she understood everything that Jammy would need for his continued weight loss and to prevent any more bladder stones. (And he’s already lost another pound since his story was first published – go Jammy!) Then she loaded the backseat of her car with tons of dog beds so that he could pick whichever one he wanted – although he immediately passed them all up to hop in the front seat! He’s taking his new job as co-pilot very seriously. Jammy and his new mom will spend their first week getting to know each other at her beach-side residence. After that, they will begin their adventures traveling across the country in an RV. Happy trails and wagging tails, Jammy!

Tails of Marin: This week’s Tails of Marin has a similar theme to other articles we’ve written, and that is coexistence is key! Hope you enjoy, “Don’t let your dogs harass wildlife.”

Paper bags needed! Yes, we could still use your paper grocery bags! We use loads of bags every week to pack of pet food and kitty litter for our Pet Care Assistance clients. Please drop off any you can spare to the donation bins in front of the shelter. Many thanks!!

Estate planning webinar: If you missed the Estate Planning Basics webinar last week, here’s the link to the recording. The passcode is aD7ZP.dT. Enjoy!

Hope you have a terrific week!
