Greetings Volunteers,

Last Sunday, we hosted 800+ people at Woofstock 2024! It was a perfect day at 74 degrees, the three bands were super entertaining, people were dancing, families and their dogs were enjoying the food & festivities on the lawn, and all to support the animals at Marin Humane! Here’s a TikTok video to give you a feel for the fun day :)!

Thank you to the nearly 100 Woofstock volunteers who made this such a smooth-running, outstanding event!  Thank you to all the volunteers who helped us before, during, and after the event. Thank you to all the volunteers who bought tickets and attended Woofstock. Thank you to all those who donated wine or an item to the raffle! We are so grateful for our family of volunteers! Here are a few photos from Woofstock, but scroll down to see more!

Shelter update: We currently have 291 animals in our collective care. 202 are at Marin Humane: 99 animals in foster and 103 animals in the shelter/Kitty Corner, including: 16 dogs, 5 puppies, 44 cats, 10 kittens, 11 rabbits, 4 guinea pigs, 1 rodent, 9 reptiles, and 3 birds. 89 animals are with Hopalong: 11 animals are in the Oakland office and 78 cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies are in foster or offsite adoption sites!

Adoptions update: Woofstock wasn’t the only fun thing happening at the shelter last week! We also had plenty of amazing, adorable adoptions! Thank you to our awesome community for choosing to adopt, not shop, and for partying with us on Sunday! Look here for the Adoption Report to see all the happy families!

Hopalong happenings! It was quite an eventful weekend for the Hopalong team! On Saturday we doubled our usual mobile adoption efforts and hosted two events. Pictured is our amazing Oakland event team, who helped show off some of our dogs at Happy Hound’s anniversary event! We also hosted our usual Saturday mobile adoption event at Woodlands San Rafael, where several pups were adopted! A huge thank you to the 10 fabulous volunteers who made these two events happen almost simultaneously. We couldn’t have done it without you! Our Hopalong Program Director, Juliet, had to get in on the fun before the weekend was out, and hosted a booth at Woofstock on Sunday to spread the word about fostering for Hopalong and Marin Humane!

Calendar photo contest! Was your pet born to be a ⭐️S T A R⭐️? Then we want to see them in next year’s Marin Humane Calendar! Join Marin Humane + Hopalong’s annual Photo Fundraiser Contest to raise funds to help the animals – and possibly snag that calendar cover! It’s easy to enter: Take a photo of your pet, submit it online, then get your family and friends to vote for your pet’s adorable picture. You just might win the cover or a month, and all entrants are guaranteed a spot in the calendar. All funds raised from entry fees and votes support the shelter animals, so it’s a lot of fun for a good cause! Enter the contest here.

Tails of Marin: Loved all the rain this winter, but hate the foxtails! And they are RAMPANT in Marin this year! Here’s how to keep your dog safe,Protecting your dog against pesky foxtails .”

Doggie dining! With the holiday weekend coming up, are you looking for some restaurant options where you can bring your canine BFF? Well, “doggy dining” menus were recently launched at Left Bank Larkspur and at Petite Left Bank in Tiburon! 10% of the proceeds benefit Marin Humane. So, if you are looking for dog friendly restaurants to take your furry best friend, check these out!

Volunteer High Five to Linda Futrell! “Most of our requests for Animal Transports involve a few hours of travel time, but we had one request recently to take a dog to a rescue all the way up in Oregon! I thought, no way will anyone want to jump in their car for this looong journey. But I was wrong. Enter Linda Futrell who stepped right up to say, “sure I’ll do it!” Linda and her husband picked up the doggo early in the morning, loaded him in their travel trailer and headed north. They took many “potty breaks,” enjoyed the scenery, then spent the night … the three of them in the travel trailer . The following morning, they dropped off the dog at the rescue, picked up a few puppies to bring back to Marin Humane, and hit the road south! All told, Linda travelled hundreds of miles over 24 hours … all to help one special dog. I’d say Linda is one special human! We’d like to extend our huge appreciation to Linda and her husband for this particularly long transport, and for all the animal transports Linda does throughout the year! You’re the best!!” ~ Kyle Dunlop, Animal Care Supervisor

Volunteer High Five to Steve Stephens! “Steve has been a dedicated, reliable Kitty Corner volunteer since we opened in 2015. If you ever need a Sub or a task taken care of, Steve is always willing & able! Recently, we had a busy adoption week at KC and it was the perfect time to do a ‘deep clean’. Since we were cat free, it was also a great time to vacuum the condo vents – a very noisy job! Steve came in on a Monday and spent a few hours removing all of the condo vent covers, washing them, vacuuming them and putting everything back in order. Steve does this task a couple of times a year for us – never a complaint, always willing to help out! THANK YOU, Steve for all you do for us and our KC felines. You’re awesome and we appreciate you!!” ~ Ruthie Tolleson, Adoption Supervisor, and the KC team

Hope you enjoy the photos below of the wonderful Woofstock volunteers!

Be safe and be well this holiday weekend.
