Greetings Volunteers,
Tails by Twilight, our annual gala under the stars, takes place this Saturday, September 14. One of the key components of this signature fundraising event is the Silent Auction. And guess what, you don’t have to attend the Gala to bid because the Silent Auction is open to everyone! Click here to browse the getaways and entertainment packages and start bidding on your favorites! Since it’s open to everyone, share the link and encourage friends and family to join in the bidding, too!

Adoptions update: Another Wednesday is upon us! That means another adoption slideshow is also upon us! Congratulations to all the adopters and thank you so much for adopting!
It was an extra busy week thanks to Clear the Shelters, which was sponsored by our partners at Hill’s Pet Nutrition. Thank you, Hill’s!
And for the full scoop, here’s the Adoption Report!
Hopalong happenings! We were thrilled to have a huge volume of adoptions over the weekend, thanks to two mobile adoption events and our Clear the Shelters adoption special! Saturday was a big day in particular; 15 kittens were adopted from our RV at Berkeley Humane’s Bark and Meow Around the Block event, plus 4 puppies adopted between our Oakland office and our Mill Valley Woodlands dog mobile adoption event. All those adoptions made room for us to transfer animals into our foster program, and oh boy, did we find some cuties! Check out Daniel, Sean, Roger, Pierce, Timothy, Ursula & Halle. These kitties arrived Monday and are spending this week in a loving foster home. They’ll be star guests at our Tails by Twilight Gala event this Saturday, so keep an eye out for them if you’ll be attending!
San Quentin Pen Pals update: Welcome back to our SQ update where we share stories from our Pen Pals program at San Quentin Rehabilitation Center, which matches specially-selected inmates who work in the center’s firehouse with shelter dogs in need of a little extra TLC. The inmates volunteer to live full-time with the dogs while working in the firehouse either as firefighters or emergency first responders, and our Behavior & Training staff provide the handlers with extensive training in dog behavior. We recently received a card from our fabulous team at San Quentin, and there was one thing that each handlers’ message had in common: How much their loved ones enjoy getting a glimpse into their everyday lives in our weekly posts! “My family loves being able to stay involved with what I’m doing,” “My family sure does appreciate the photos,” and more. Safe to say, the card hit us right in the feels! We feel so lucky to witness the magic of this program and we started these weekly San Quentin Saturday posts to help spread that magic a little bit. The fact that we get to spread the magic to the people closest to our amazing team of handlers is extra special. So to all the friends and family of our incredible Pen Pals handlers who are following along: We’re so glad you’re here to see their powerful impact.
Volunteer High Five to Community Event Volunteers! Hip, hip, hooray for our Community Event Volunteers! Frequently, Marin Humane is asked to participate in community events throughout the county, and we couldn’t do this outreach if not for our Community Event Volunteers! With each request, these volunteers respond with enthusiasm to help. So, this is a huge High Five to Bunny and Susie for helping at Novato Night Out; to Angie, Anni, and Jo Anne for helping at the Strawberry Recreation Community Event; to Gayle, Kathy, Marci, and Susie for helping at Ember Stomp; and to Fredi for helping at the San Rafael Fire Department event. You are the best Marin Humane ambassadors and we are so appreciative of the time you dedicate to engaging with the public about Marin Humane’s programs and services. Thank you thank you!!
Tails of Marin: This week’s Tails of Marin discusses the power of words, especially when it comes to animal welfare, “When it comes to animals, words matter.”
Thank you Pet Food Express! Extra special thanks to Pet Food Express for raising $8000 for our Pet Safety Net program through their Fill the Food Bank campaign! We were able to purchase a load of food, litter, and treats from Pet Food Express’ suppliers – and this load is just half of it! We’re so grateful to Pet Food Express but being such steadfast supporters of our shelters and its programs. They’re also sponsoring Tails by Twilight, our annual gala coming up on Saturday, September 14!
Job Opening: We’re currently accepting applications for a full time Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) for our Hopalong Foster Program. Here’s the Job Description for RVT – Hopalong Foster Program. The position is open until filled. Click here to apply!
Have a wonderful week!
