Greetings Volunteers,
Marin Humane is very fortunate. Located on a six-and-a-half-acre campus, we have the space, experience, and expertise to provide wide-ranging programs benefiting the 10,000 animals and people who come to us for help each year. However, our current facilities, built in 1968, are aging…and it has an impact on our four-footed residents. That’s why, at the Tails by Twilight Gala this past Saturday, our Fund-A-Need raised critical funding for capital improvements to be made throughout the coming year – starting with our oldest canine housing. This video showcases how renovated spaces that are safe, well-designed, and responsive to the needs of our animals, staff, and volunteers amplify our ability to fulfill our mission. When animals are less stressed, they are healthier and happier – and more likely to find their loving homes quickly. If you feel so inclined to donate to the Fund-a-Need effort, click here. Thank you! And be sure to read further for a special Volunteer High Five for all the Gala volunteers!

Volunteer High Five to Gala Volunteers! Huge kudos to all the volunteers who helped make the Tails by Twilight event so wonderful … and successful! Each and every one of you played a role in creating yet another magical night filled with fun, inspiration, and incredible generosity. A round of a-paws …
*To the pre-event volunteers (Paula, Beth, Cheryle, Donna, Jill, Josie, Patti, and Susan) who assembled the silent auction items and then set-up the silent auction tables! Bravo for all the behind-the-scenes help and for organizing the beautiful silent auction table displays! *To the check-in volunteers (April, Claire, Linda, and Shilo) who warmly welcomed our guests and made this process quick and easy! You were gracious and set the tone for the night! *To the check-in helpers (Dani, Michele, Shawn, and Tamara) who made the process of check-in run so smoothly! *To the greeter and photographer (Connie and Rachael), the guests appreciated your warm greetings and loved having their photo taken in front of the fancy Marin Humane backdrop! *To the Animal Assisted Therapy teams (Jill & Kona and Linda & Rubidoo) for greeting our guests with tails wagging! *To the cat & dog treat bar volunteers (Mary and Val) for handing out treat bags to guests! *To the mobile bidding buddies (Ashley and Craig) who engaged our guests at the silent auction tables and helped them navigate the mobile bidding app. You were invaluable in making this system of bidding easy peasy! *To the raffle volunteers (Amanda and Gwen) who gamely engaged every guest to sell them a raffle ticket all while managing the finicky technology. *To the guest seaters (Christina and Laura) who showed folks to their tables so they could enjoy the festivities, this was an extra nice touch. *To our puppy and kitten volunteers (Nancy, Courtney, Kim, Rainey, Susie, and Vivienne) for getting our wee critters ready for their big night at the Gala, their presence always holds a special place in the hearts of our guests!
Much gratitude to each Gala volunteer for making this an exceptional fundraiser for the shelter animals! ~ Candace & the Development Team
Tails of Marin: In this week’s Tails of Marin, Lisa Bloch writes: “If you’ve ever had a cat, you’re likely familiar with this scenario: It’s around 4 a.m. and the kitty is hungry and/or bored. Moments later, you’re pounced upon or that glass of water on the nightstand gets knocked over by furry paws. Think you’ve solved it by keeping your bedroom door closed? Ha! The feline will then unleash a full range of vocals just outside of it. So, what’s a sleep-deprived cat lover to do? Get another cat!” Read the full article, “Why two cats are better than one,” and learn how to introduce a new kitty to your feline household!
Peace of mind planning: Marin Humane’s Legacy Society is comprised of more than 345 committed supporters who have planned to leave a legacy for animals by naming Marin Humane in their estate plans. For peace of mind many have enrolled their pets in our Guardians Program for the expedited rehoming of their pets, should the need arise. We are deeply grateful for the many generous individuals whose bequests to Marin Humane in 2024 have helped make our tagline, “Lives Made Happy” a reality for thousands. If you would like to make a bequest to honor and commemorate the human-animal bond now and into the future, please visit us here or contact Nan Zimmerman at 415-506-6233 or at nzimmerman@marinhumane.org.
