Greetings Volunteers,

Understanding there are a lot of things on people’s minds right now — from BIG things like the ongoing pandemic to the not-so-big things like the Niners win last Sunday — thought you might want to know that today is National Popcorn Day! Yes indeed. Hope you can sit back, relax with your pet, and enjoy the small things like a bucket of popcorn :).

Shelter update: We currently have 117 animals in our care: 39 animals in foster and 78 animals in the shelter. The shelter residents include: 24 dogs, 2 puppies, 26 cats, 1 kitten, 4 rabbits, 6 guinea pigs, 2 rodents, 7 reptiles, and 6 fowl.

Adoptions update: It’s a beautiful day out there! And you know what makes it even more beautiful? All these lucky animals heading to their new forever homes! Many thanks to all the adopters for giving these cuties the second chance they deserved. Enjoy the week’s adoption slideshow and the Adoption Report too.

Happy ending! Our adoption team do such a fantastic job finding just the right animal for adopters. So many of our adopters appreciate the customer service they receive, they’d like to pay it forward. My partner and I just adopted Boa last night. She took almost no time to come out of her shell and she’s just the sweetest. And so goofy and playful! I’d really like to thank Ruthie and Angela for being so helpful! Angela introduced us to a bunch of really sweet kitties and was really patient with us while we were making our decision. I wish I could have adopted them all! On that note, I was wondering if I might be able to sponsor Henry’s adoption? He is an amazing cat, and I’d love to see him in a good home. Thank you again for a great experience!”

Tails of Marin: “With so many holiday travel plans canceled or delayed (thanks, omicron!), many people are planning (or at least dreaming about) travel opportunities in 2022. For those of us with pets, having a reliable person to care for our animals while we’re away can make or break our travel plans.” Read more in this week’s Tails of Marin.

Volunteer High Five to Jen Myers! “This past week Jen transported one of our cats, a very beautiful and somewhat challenging Bengal mix cat of ours to Salinas. Bengals just aren’t meant to be in shelters but a cat rescue that we work with had a great foster home waiting for him in Paso Robles. I didn’t have much interest from our transport volunteers so Jen rearranged her entire day to be able to take him to Salinas. From Salinas he finished his travels with one of the rescue’s transporters. Big thank you Jen for helping Bigotes make his way to his next adventure!” ~ Kyle Dunlop, Animal Care

Enjoy the sunny week!
