Greetings volunteers,

How fast did these past ten months go, right?! Well, as we say goodbye to October and welcome November, enjoy the B&Tea post about costuming pets (be sure to read all the way through for adorable pics of pets in Halloween costumes).

Shelter update: We currently have 220 animals in our care: 89 animals in foster and 131 in the shelter. The shelter residents include: 27 dogs, 1 puppy, 47 cats, 16 kittens, 12 rabbits, 5 guinea pigs, 17 rodents, 1 reptile, 4 birds and 1 fowl.

Adoptions update: Welcome to November and another week or robust adoptions! To put a little pep in your step, check out the adoption slideshow video! If you’d like to know exactly who was adopted recently, here is the Adoption Report.

Volunteer High Five to Dawn Landes!  “Dawn has spent many years helping us in the shelter walking dogs and volunteering as a medical assistant. So when we started to hold Community Clinics for the underserved of Marin, Dawn stepped right up to the plate to help! Dawn has the skill set required for the Community Clinics: she’s an expert animal handler for the vet exams, she can give injections, and she’s super easy-going in the face of the very fast tempo of these events. Thank you, Dawn, for your commitment to serving the community, for your great attitude, and for all of your support at the Community Clinics!” ~ Shilo Landis, Community Engagement

Tails of Marin: This week’s Tails of Marin, “How to handle conflicts between dogs,” is a good reminder of how to manage possible altercations as you’re out walking your dog.

Marin Humane calendar: The 2022 Marin Humane calendar is now available! All photos from last summer’s contest are included in the calendar so check it out and order yours here!

Volunteer High Five to Animal Transporters!I would like to give a high five to the volunteer transporters! Our transporters travel near and far to pick up our Pet Partnership animals and drop off our animals needing to go to rescue. Sometimes the transport is just to San Francisco to drop off a senior dog but other times the trips can be 3 hours each way to drop off or pickup animals. We even had volunteers drive to another state this year to drop off a dog!! Marin Humane really depends on our volunteers and appreciates all of the hours they spend doing the transports. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!” ~ Kyle Dunlop, Animal Care

Snowfest: Yes, ski season is upon us. SnowFest presented by Palisades Tahoe is back and coming to our local Sports Basement! Get exclusive discounts on the best gear, enter to win incredible prizes, snag some pretty sweet deals on lift tickets, and chat with reps from over 40 snow industry brands at Sports Basement’s annual celebration of snow. And let’s not forget about the beer – all proceeds from the Give Back 6-Pack benefit Marin Humane. Grab your free ticket on Eventbrite and join other ski enthusiasts on November 6th at Sports Basement Novato! (And if you’re interested in volunteering at this event Saturday, please contact our Events Manager Molly Foley at mfoley@marinhumane.org.)

 Wishing you a terrific week!
