Greetings Volunteers,

We hope you all received the special email from Anne yesterday with exciting news surrounding Gala 2020. In case you missed it, you can read Anne’s Gala Email here. The big take away is that we want you to join us for this entertaining and historic event this Saturday, September 12th. We hope to see you all there!

Shelter update: We currently have 163 animals in our care: 102 animals in foster and 61 in the shelter. The shelter population includes 6 dogs, 18 cats, 30 kittens, 1 rabbit, 1 quail, 2 parakeets, 1 duck, 1 chicken and 1 pigeon.

Adoptions update: We’ve hit the 900 mark! Since March 16th, we’ve done 931 adoptions. Go team go! For this week’s adoption slideshow, click here.

Pet Care Assistance & Pet Safety Net updates: Since the shelter-in-place order on March 16th, the number of Marin County residents needing assistance with their companion animals has increased dramatically. And Marin Humane’s Pet Care Assistance and Pet Safety Net programs have expanded to meet the need. A few staff and volunteers have been delivering bags of pet food to those in the program throughout Marin. In fact, they’ve made 445 deliveries (through 8/31) which is five times more than the same period in 2019! In addition to delivering pet food directly, Marin Humane has donated 6,200 lbs. of pet food to 13 food banks in the county. In just five months, we’ve donated over 11,200 lbs. of pet food to seniors and those in need.

The Pet Care Assistance & Pet Safety Net programs have benefited from crucial donations from Hill’s Pet Nutrition and Pet Food Express/Essence Food. In addition, we received nearly $60,000 in grants from three generous foundations (that prefer to be anonymous) in support of these valuable programs. We are so grateful for their support!

Tails of Marin: Dawn Kovell, the Director of Behavior & Training, shares a humorous story about living with multiple pets in this week’s Tails of Marin. Do you have a variety of pets in your household? Feel free to share with the whole class :-).

Join our fun lovin’ crew and help animals! There are a few open positions at Marin Humane right now. Most recently, we’re accepting applications/resumes for a full time (40 hours/week) Animal Care Technician. For the job description (and all open positions) and how to apply, check out the employment page on our website.

Columbia Sportswear Employee Store – Volunteer Discount: The Columbia Sportswear Employee Store is offering Marin Humane volunteers its annual invitation to shop at greatly reduced prices through September 20th! Columbia is stocked with the latest season’s arrivals from their family of brands for your buying pleasure. Marin Humane employees and volunteers have exclusive access to the Columbia Sportswear Employee Store from August 28th – September 20th only! To access the store, please bring this Columbia Sportswear Store Invitation (printed or shown on mobile phone); organization ID (volunteer badge); and personal photo ID.
