When it comes to animals, sometimes there’s more going on than meets the eye (they can’t speak, after all).
This was the case with Half Pint, a sweet little fellow who recently came to us as a stray.
When Half Pint was under anesthesia for his neuter surgery, we discovered that something was wrong with his hips.
What the x-rays revealed horrified us: Half Pint had been shot, and the pellet is still lodged in his leg.
His pelvis is also fractured, likely due to the impact of the pellet.
Half Pint underwent a successful orthopedic surgery, followed by some time to rehabilitate in our Pen Pals program at San Quentin.
Half Pint has made a full recovery and is now available for adoption and waiting to meet his forever family.
