Janet is widely recognized as an accomplished businesswoman and published author. Over the years, Janet’s career included leadership roles in the corporate world—most prominently as co-owner, CFO, and COO of Rockstar Energy Drink, a company founded by her son, Russ. Her business acumen and strategic insight were key contributors to the company’s growth and eventual sale to PepsiCo. This success laid the foundation for her later philanthropic work.
Her lifelong commitment to animal welfare causes has helped raise visibility, funding, and engagement for animal-related causes. In recent years at Marin Humane, Janet served as the leading donor for key infrastructure improvements, including canine housing renovations, and in prior years, she funded a remodeled washing and grooming station on site. This support was an extension of her generosity in 2010 when she funded three upgraded dog adoption suites. These types of special projects could not have happened without her philanthropic leadership.
In 2020, Janet, along with support from Rockstar Energy Drink, notably stepped forward to fund two full-time veterinary assistant positions for a series of years. This contribution significantly bolstered the shelter’s capacity to care for the increasing number of animals brought through its doors. The added positions enhanced the ability to provide essential medical care, such as spay and neuter surgeries for adoptable pets, medication, and post-surgery care.

In 2019, she was honored as “Humanitarian of the Year” by Marin Humane, reflecting her leadership and generosity toward animal-centric causes in her community and beyond.

Janet shared that her motivation to make a difference in animal welfare started at a young age. “I lost my family when I was very young, and my dog was put up for euthanasia without any hope of adoption to a second family, so I’ve always been very partial to caring for animals in need. That sentiment continues to this day.”
When asked about her motivations to support Marin Humane and animal welfare, Janet said, “Without organizations like Marin Humane and Wildcare, there would be no group in Marin County that would help animals in need. They provide an incredibly valuable service, and I’m very pleased to support them in every way that I can.”
