Making the decision to surrender an animal is difficult. Sometimes people are faced with the challenge of having to balance their companion animal’s needs with changes in their life. We offer resources and support to help pet guardians make the best decisions for them and their pet.
Alternatives to Rehoming
Marin Humane’s ultimate goal is to help keep beloved animal companions with their families. We can assist with behavior or medical problems that may be making it difficult to keep a companion at home. Our programs can support keeping pets and their families together. For example, the Pet Care Assistance program can provide financial support for veterinary care and other pet needs. Our Behavior & Training department can offer a no-cost behavior consultation for you and your pet. Please ask, the programs are here to help.
Private Rehoming Service
There’s no place like home! If you’re unable to keep your pet and must find an alternative home for him or her, our placement service offers tools to help you without having to surrender him or her to a shelter.
There have already been several adoptions via the Private Rehoming Service. And the feedback has been very positive because their animals did not have to come into a shelter environment! If you’re interested, you can click here to see some of the adoptable animals waiting in private homes.
