Hopalong became part of Marin Humane in 2021, extending our lifesaving work across Marin and the East Bay. Through volunteers, foster homes, and strong community partnerships, the program helps more animals find loving homes every day.

On Saturday, Septmber 19, animal lovers will gather on the great lawn here at our Novato shelter to celebrate another year of life-changing work - and get ready for the next magical year!Enjoy custom cocktails and tunes from The Dick Bright Trio, meet some puppies and kittens, then sit down to a stunning vegetarian dinner and a special program about our shelter's work, and wrap up the evening with an exciting live auction and a fabulous Fund-a-Need. It all adds up to a pretty perfect Saturday night! And did we mention you can bring your well-behaved dog along for the fun? Because you can! And as a bonus, we'll have caricature artists on site ready to draw custom pet portraits. Tails are wagging and paws are biscuiting because, thanks to you, we surpassed both the $10,000 match provided by Christina and Steve Fox and the additional $5,000 match provided by Mr. R. Lam to raise over $60,000 in August! These funds support Marin Humane to transform thousands of lives each year – animals and people alike. We are endlessly grateful to the Fox family and Mr. Lam, and to everyone who doubled their impact by having their gift matched. And remember Ace and King, the rough-and-tumble senior cats who were found as strays? Their medical care was made possible by Mark M. Glickman and The Joe Willie Project, which funds medical, behavioral, and placement help to promote the adoption of senior cats and other cats with special needs. Thanks to Mark and The Joe Willie Project, cats like Ace and King are given the extra help they need to find loving homes. This smiley guy is Cabo!Cabo's a 3-year-old Pit Bull and Akita mix with a wonderfully chill vibe and unique charm. Built like a little powerhouse with bulky shoulders and narrow hips, he has a slightly funny, endearing walk that perfectly matches his slow, easygoing pace on leash. Cabo's a dog who believes life is best enjoyed in the slow lane, making him a dream walking companion for anyone who prefers a relaxed stroll over a frantic run.While he's cautious when first meeting new people, his trust is incredibly rewarding to earn. Once he warms up to you, he'll gladly show you his favorite quirk! Because of his unique build, he has a hard time reaching his own neck to scratch it, so he absolutely looooves it when his human friends step in to handle neck-scratching duty for him!In terms of his social life, Cabo's pretty dog-neutral. He's perfectly content to coexist and ignore other dogs on walks, though he prefers to keep to himself and would do best as the only pet in the home - so he can get all the neck scratches to himself! He's just looking for a patient, low-key home that understands he just needs a little time to assess new friends before showing his sweet, affectionate side. But as you can see, it doesn’t take long to get on this girl’s good side!Maisy’s 7 years old, loves Churus, adores having her cheeks and chin rubbed, and definitely doesn’t want to share her space with kids or other pets. It's hot out there! 🔥Pets are more susceptible to heat-related illness when temperatures rise. Here's how to keep pets safe!* Keep fresh, clean water available at all times.* Provide shade and cool areas for pets to relax.* Limit walks and other activity during the hottest part of the day.* Watch for signs of heat stress, including heavy panting, drooling, weakness, confusion, vomiting, or collapse.* NEVER leave animals in parked cars, even with the windows down.* Check pavement before walks to avoid burned paws.If you spot an animal in distress in this heat, call our Animal Services Officers at 415.883.4621 or call 911 to get help right away.

Maltese fans, rejoice! We have a certified cutie here! This is Ember, a 1-year-old Maltese mix looking for a gentle, patient adopter. He's shy but extemely sweet, so give him time to warm up and you'll be rewarded with the cutest, most affectionate sidekick.
