In July of 2021, Hopalong Animal Rescue officially joined Marin Humane and tails have been wagging ever since. With Hopalong’s network of loving foster homes, their connections to shelters throughout California, and their awesome adoption outposts, they’re helping Marin Humane make more lives happy than ever before!

The stores are filled to the brim with Halloween decorations and we're sad to see most of them are stocked with fake cobwebs. We know these fake cobwebs are fun and festive but they're also REALLY dangerous for wildlife! Not only can they catch and entangle smaller critters, they're even strong enough to catch an owl. Yes, an owl! This owl was rescued by one of our Animal Services Officers several years ago and we share these powerful photos every fall to remind folks to please choose animal-safe Halloween decorations.

Wallace and Gromit are sweet juvenile roosters who were found on the side of Highway 37 together. Thank goodness they didn't try to cross that road! Luckily, a passerby spotted them and was able to catch and bring them in. Now these growing boys are ready to find flocks of their own!

We love it when we get to play Cupid for our guinea pigs! Dotty and Maddie didn't arrive at the shelter together, but now that they're in love, they'll definitely be adopted together!

Strangely enough, Dotty and Maddie were both abandoned in front of the shelter, but on separate occasions. Maddie was found with a note explaining that her owner had passed away. Dotty came with her sister, who unfortunately had medical issues and did not make it. Since they were both lonely, we introduced them to each other and it was love at first sight!

Dotty is 2 years old and Maddie is 5 years old. They're both very friendly and would make great companions for just about any family! Guinea pigs are wonderful little companions and having a pair is even better.

Aloha, Georgie! Georgie has an insatiable lust for life that's fun and contagious! We think he's a 2-year-old English Pointer mix and he has a lot of classic pointer qualities, like his boundless energy and eager attitude.

Georgie came to us from Maui after the disastrous fires. He was already in the shelter looking for a forever home when the fires started, so we brought him to Marin in order to give Maui Humane more space for lost and found animals.

Now he's looking for a home here in Marin! Georgie would love to join an active family. 5 mile hikes? No problem! Going for a run alongside your bike? You bet! Fetch, agility, and Nosework in the same day? Georgie says yes, please!

Georgie is a friendly fellow who loves meeting new people and is excited to meet new dog pals. We've been teaching Georgie lots of skills during his stay with us, including learning to ignore dogs when he's on leash, calling away from other dogs when he's in a fenced yard, walking politely on leash, waiting at doors, and so much more. He still needs to learn some basic manners, so sturdy or older children are recommended.

Looking for a solo sweetie? Ashley is a beauty who wants to be your one and only kitty! Look at those eyes!

Ashley is 2 years old and very affectionate once she settles in with someone. She'll lean into your hand for cheek rubs, ear rubs, and petting, like she's saying, "More, please!" But you know what she doesn't want more of? Cats! That's right, Ashley doesn't want to live near any other cats. Her humans are all the love she needs!

Looking for a solid hunk of pittie love? Mia's your gal! She's a beautiful lilac pit bull mix who's always smiling, and she's ready to meet YOU!

Mia's 6 years old and a huuuuuge fan of fetch. You'll always have a go-to way to burn off her energy! Just find a couple toys she loves and she'll fetch them in turn as long as you're willing to throw them. Once she's all tuckered out, she'd be thrilled to cuddle up next to you on the couch and binge a good show.

Mia's spent a lot of her time with us in our San Quentin Pen Pals program, where she's being fostered and trained by an inmate/handler in the prison firehouse. We've learned that she isn't terribly interested in other dogs; she's much more focused on her handler. Mia's loving all the one-on-one attention she gets in the program, and she's learned loads of great skills with her handler. She walks politely on leash, and she knows sit, down, wait, leave-it, and more. Mia's also learning to sit when she meets new people, which is a big ask for a bully breed pup! She's a friendly gal who's eager to give new people a kiss right away - but she's learning.😉
