Today Animal Care Club was visited by Maddie Krasno from Farm Sanctuary. Students learn about the conditions farmed animals live in an how Farm Sanctuary helps. Farm Sanctuary has two locations in California and New York, where they rescue, rehabilitate, and provide lifelong care for hundreds of animals who have been saved from stockyards, factory farms, and slaughterhouses. At the sanctuaries, rescued residents are given the care and love they need to recover from abuse and neglect. Animal Care Club Meets an Officer

Animal Care Club was so lucky to have TWO guest visitors for this meeting! First we were visited by Officer Lilly, one of our Animal Services Officers. We heard about the wild calls that officers have responded to and got to see her truck! Students were shown the different tools the officers use to catch various animals and we got to smell the skunk bucket!   Next, we were visited by Beth Weil, Marin Humane's Feline Behavior Coordinator. Animal Care Club Helps Rabbits Get Adopted

Our first meeting went great! We met a hamster named Mack and learned about him and the needs of other small companion animals with one of our Animal Care Technicians. Then we drew portraits of the rabbits and guinea pigs up for adoption. Two rabbits were adopted in the two weeks between club meetings! It must have been those great portraits. Lastly, we stuffed Kongs for the dogs! It was messy, but it sounds like they want to do it again! Each meeting we will learn about animals at the shelter and do a service project [...]
