As this year’s Volunteer Appreciation Week comes to a close, we sure hope you’ve felt the extra love and gratitude for all you do!
Words and treats never seem enough to express our appreciation as Marin Humane could never EVER do what we do without our INCREDIBLE volunteers!

“It’s Volunteer Appreciation Week! We’d like to give a big, grateful shout-out to our Animal Care volunteers! They aren’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and get a little messy, whether they’re feeding animals, doing piles and PILES of laundry, washing dirty dishes or kennels, or passing out enrichment items. We wouldn’t consider it the most ✨💫glamorous💫✨ volunteer position, but it’s absolutely one of the most important!

“Volunteer Appreciation Week continues and today we’re celebrating our feline-focused volunteers! 🐈🐾 Our Feline Intervention Team, or FIT volunteers, are doing way more than just saving nine lives – they’re reshaping futures! Whether a kitty needs a confidence boost to trust humans or a few lessons in “playing nice,” our FIT team steps in to help. By dedicating focused, one-on-one time to our most sensitive residents, they ensure that cats who might otherwise be overlooked get the second chance they truly deserve.
And we also have a fabulous team of adoption counselors at Kitty Corner, our cats-only outpost in San Anselmo! Whether they’re cleaning or match-making or giving A+ pets, their love and dedication makes our tiny center a total sanctuary for every resident, and they help so many kitties find their forever homes each year.”
“Happy Volunteer Appreciation Week to the dedicated team in our veterinary clinic! You are the quiet heroes behind the scenes, helping our vet staff provide life-saving care. While the work isn’t always glamorous, it is always vital, and we couldn’t do it without your compassion. Thank you!

“Sometimes the best things in life come in small packages, like our small companion animals! So we’re very grateful this Volunteer Appreciation Week for our team who run Rabbit Romper Room, and for the folks who socialize and cuddle our guinea pigs and other smalls. The smaller species sometimes get overlooked in favor of cats and dogs, so thank you to the volunteers who always make the small animals a big priority!”
“Volunteer Appreciation Week continues! ❤🐾 Gosh, do we love our Dog Pet Pals! No matter what, these incredible volunteers show up day in and day out to make sure our shelter dogs get their walks, field trips, scenting classes, cuddles, sleepovers, and anything else their little doggy hearts desire.
It’s so much more than making sure each dog gets exercise or gets out of their kennel. The DPPs are attuned to what each dog needs and they go above and beyond to help them thrive, feel safe, and find their forever homes. We are so grateful for them every day, and so proud of what they’ve done for our shelter dogs!

“We’re wrapping up Volunteer Appreciation Week with a great, big THANK YOU to our foster volunteers! Giving an animal a break from the shelter – whether it’s for a weekend, a week, or months on end – can make a dramatic difference. Shy animals open up, stressed animals get a chance to relax, energetic animals get more space to run and exercise, kittens with ringworm get treatment, puppies grow big and strong… the list goes on! Thank you, fosters!!”
