Greetings Volunteers,

As this year’s Volunteer Appreciation Week comes to a close, we sure hope you’ve felt the extra love and gratitude for all you do!

Words and treats never seem enough to express our appreciation as Marin Humane could never EVER do what we do without our INCREDIBLE volunteers!

This week we shared a lot of photos and stories on social media about our volunteers. Here’s a sampling:

“We all know cats can be dramatic but did you know they sometimes need an intervention? That’s where our Feline Intervention Team comes in! And these volunteers are changing a lot more than nine lives!  Sometimes a cat needs help learning to trust people or learning to play nicely. That’s when our Feline Intervention Team volunteers, well….  intervene! They spend quality time with each kitty in need and help them get ready for adoption. Cats who might otherwise be overlooked by adopters get that second chance that they need!

Thank you so much to our FIT volunteers, and every single volunteer helping our animals on the way to their forever homes. Happy Volunteer Appreciation Week!”

“Sometimes the smallest packages take up the biggest spaces in our hearts. Our Rabbit Romper Room volunteers and Small Companion Animal Pet Pals certainly think so! Dogs and cats soak up a lot of the limelight here at Marin Humane, but our rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, and more also need lots of love and care during their shelter stay. These volunteers organize regular play sessions and cuddle sessions for our smaller residents and make sure the small buddies are happy until they find forever homes. Thank you and Happy Volunteer Appreciation Week!”

“Did you know we have a thrift shop? We do! And it’s run by our amazing volunteers! This Volunteer Appreciation Week, we’d like to salute the wonderful volunteers of the Marin Humane Thrift Shop. The proceeds from their hard work helps us keep our veterinary clinic running, providing crucial vet care, spay/neuter surgeries, x-rays, and much more for the shelter animals. Thank you, Thrift Shop volunteers! The Marin Humane Thrift Shop is in San Anselmo, and it’s open Monday – Saturday – so pay us a visit soon. Your donated items, and your purchases, are literally changing lives! Find out hours and location here.”

“Where do we even begin with our Dog Pet Pals? This Volunteer Appreciation Week, we’d like to give them the biggest thank you for their constant and unwavering devotion to the shelter dogs. Rain, heat waves, pandemics, personal crises…. nothing can stop these committed volunteers from showing up for our dogs! And as you can see, there’s no shortage of love between the dogs and our DPPs! These special volunteers offer walks and play time, yes, but they also offer off-campus adventures, scenting and other training classes, plus love and companionship while the dogs wait for their forever families. This is truly life-changing for the shelter dogs and we couldn’t be more grateful. Thank you, Dog Pet Pals, and Happy Volunteer Appreciation Week!”

“Next up in our Volunteer Appreciation Week celebration? Our incredible team of volunteer adoption counselors and mobile adoption volunteers! When you walk through the door, these awesome volunteers will be there to greet you with a big smile, and if you come to our mobile adoption events on the weekend, they’ll be running the event from start to finish. Choosing a new furry friend is a big deal and our adoption counselors are right there with you, every step of the way through the process! They’ll help guide you to your perfect match and ensure you head home with the best new buddy for your family.”

“Our Pet Safety Net’s free community clinic have had a life-changing impact for low-income pet guardians in Marin county. And we couldn’t do any of it without our volunteers! As we close out Volunteer Appreciation Week, we’re so grateful for the volunteers who help us with every facet of the clinics. From set-up, to checking in clients, to passing out supplies and food, to providing vet checks and vaccines, our volunteers are doing it all! In just a few hours, they touch hundreds of lives – both human and animal! – by providing support to pet guardians who truly need it. Thank you, volunteers!”

“We’re wrapping up Volunteer Appreciation Week with a great, big THANK YOU to our foster volunteers! Giving an animal a break from the shelter – whether it’s for a weekend, a week, or months on end – can make a dramatic difference. Shy animals open up, stressed animals get a chance to relax, energetic animals get more space to run and exercise, kittens with ringworm get treatment, puppies grow big and strong… the list goes on! Thank you, fosters!!”

Three cheers to ALL of the Marin Humane + Hopalong volunteers making a difference one hour, one day, one kind word, and one smile at a time!

With love and appreciation from all the staff!
