Greetings Volunteers,

As this year’s Volunteer Appreciation Week comes to a close, I find it hard to find the words to express how grateful we are for our 800+ volunteers. It goes without saying that we could never do what we do without YOU, but allow us to shout it from the rooftops: We could never EVER do what we do without our INCREDIBLE volunteers!

This week we shared a lot of photos and stories on social media about our volunteers. Here’s a sampling:

“Today we’re shining a spotlight on our Animal Care Volunteers, who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty in the name of supporting shelter animals. This work isn’t glamorous but boy oh boy is it essential! Feeding animals, cleaning kennels and cages, changing litter boxes, disinfecting surfaces, washing bedding, providing enrichment activities for the animals, and so much more – it’s indispensable work and we’re so grateful to our volunteers who help us day in and day out. THANK YOU! Pictured here are just a handful of the people making magic happen behind the scenes.”

“It’s not all cats and dogs here at Marin Humane! As National Volunteer Appreciation Week continues, we’re celebrating the volunteers who give big love to our littlest residents: the rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, hamsters, and more. Thank you to our Small Companion Animal volunteers and our Rabbit Romper Room volunteers for giving these cuties plenty of enrichment and cuddles while they wait for their forever homes!”

“The Hopalong volunteers have been such a magical addition to the Marin Humane team, so we’d like to give them a big shout-out for National Volunteer Appreciation Week! From fostering to managing our mobile adoption events, they’ve made such a difference as we work together to end pet homelessness in the Bay Area.”

“Our Animal-Assisted Therapy teams are out here changing lives! These specially-trained ambassadors bring joy everywhere they go, whether they’re visiting patients in a hospital, members of a senior community, students during finals week, or the staff at a 911 call center. They participate in Jumping for Joy, a unique canine agility program for students on the autism spectrum, and Share a Book, our reading program which offers students the chance to read to dogs in schools and libraries, and Compassion Corner, where these teams spread the love to people who are differently-abled. With smiles and tail wags, they brighten everyone’s day! Check out just a couple of our ambassadors hard at work!”

Three cheers to ALL of the Marin Humane + Hopalong volunteers making a difference one hour, one day, one kind word, and one smile at a time!

“You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give.”

With love and appreciation from all the staff!
